FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How Does Our Water Filtration System Work?

If you are buying bottled water for your family, then you are already concerned about the safety of Dumaguete's water. Damaged pipes let in dirt, sewage, toxins, bacteria, viruses and more. Water District crews are over-worked trying to find and repair. And the danger is not only a threat to your drinking water but injects pollution throughout your home including into your showers and your laundry.

Because of increased concerns about Forever Chemicals, Micro-Plastics and other toxins and contaminants in world-wide water supplies, people are turning to whole house water filtration systems. Using existing and new technology, these systems employ a combination of filters to remove impurities from your water supply. Here is a brief overview of the process:

    1. Sediment Filtration: Spindown filters are highly advisable If you have high turbidity and/or a high concentration of dirt, sand and other contaminants coming from a well or non-water district water source. This filter strains and traps these contaminants through a coarse screen of 40 microns or greater. They can be drained and the screens cleaned or replaced as needed. This will keep from clogging up your sediment and carbon specialty filters.

Sediment filters, made of pleated polyester, spun polypropylene or melt-blown polypropylene, trap and remove finer particles of rust, dissolved solids), silt, dirt, sand and debris in the water. These filters strain out particles that are 5 microns in size or larger. This step ensures the water entering your home is free from visible and many invisible contaminants that will clog or damage your system.

    2. Carbon Filtration: Carbon block and activated granular carbon filters absorb chlorine, a wide range of chemicals, unpleasant odors and taste.

Carbon filters are also highly effective in removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other organic and biological contaminants, pesticides, organic and sulfur compounds and parasites and cysts.

    3. Water Softening Treatment: Ion exchange resin filters (salt-free) in the final stage of whole house pre-filtration, removes calcium and magnesium from the water which virtually eliminates scale build-up in appliances, water lines and deposits on dishes, sinks, showers and toilets.

    4. Reverse Osmosis (RO): To complete a whole house filtration system, an RO system adds extra protection by purifying water for drinking and cooking.

In addition to pushing the filtered water through a reverse osmosis membrane, most RO systems include multiple stages of additional sediment, carbon block and activated granular carbon filtration that remove heavy metals, toxins and dangerous chemicals. The best systems offer up to 8 stages of filtration to include UV sterilization that virtually kills any remaining viruses, bacteria or organic molecules.

This technology ensures the highest level of purification which meets or exceeds the purity of bottled water while providing convenience at a comparable cost.

RENU-H2O has 18 years of experience providing clean water to families in the Pacific Region. We are the exclusive distributor for SimPure products in the Philippines. • Why are the SimPure Systems Right for Dumaguete?

We chose SimPure because they've been in business for nearly 20 years - outlasting the majority of companies who tried and failed to provide a good product. They stand behind their products and we've had no returns for defects. After we tested the local water, we specifically chose The DB-10C2 Whole House Filtration system and the T1-500UV Reverse Osmosis system because they do an excellent job purifying Dumaguete's water at a reasonable price (See the Certification Section for the test results) It has a super-sized boost pump which can produce 500 gallons or 1900 liters of water a day. We know you don't drink that much water, but it means that there is no pressure drop and you can fill up a glass of water in about 5 seconds. NOTE: The T1-500UV is the latest version. It's so new, they haven't received it in the US yet!

  • Is a Home Water Test Really Free?

Yes, it's absolutely free. Our technician will come out to your house and test the water coming into your home with a hi-tech test meter. He will also provide you with more information about how to sanitize your water and protect your family.

Replacement time depends on how much water you use. SimPure recommends 6-8 months for all filters and 12-18 months for the RO membrane. For a family living in Dumaguete that could stretch longer depending on the number of family members and number of showers, toilets, etc. We can evaluate your specific usage requirements and refine that estimate.
